Body movements
abduct
(ab-dukt') to move a limb or other body part away from the axial line (the mid-line of the body).
abduction
(ab-duk�shun) the act of abducting or the state of being abducted.
adduct
(a-dukt') to move a limb or other body part towards the axial line (the mid-line of the body).

(a-duk�shun) the act of adducting or the state of being adducted.
circumduction
(sur�kum-duk�shun) active or passive circular movement of a limb (or of the eye).
dorsiflexion
(dor'see-flek�shun) backward flexion of the foot, hand, toes or fingers - bending towards the upper surface.
extension
(eks-ten�shun) moving a joint so that the bones forming the joint are moved away from each other.
flexion
(flek�shun) moving a joint so that the bones forming the joint are moved towards each other.
inversion
(in-ver'shun)turning inwards or inside out.
plantar flexion
(plan'ter flek'shun)bending the toes or fingers towards the sole or palm.
rotation
(ro-tay�shun) the process of turning around an axis.
supination
(soo'pin-ay'shun)the act of turning the hand so that the palm is uppermost.
