Body views
afferent
(af'ur-ent)conveying toward (any point of reference).
anterior
(an-teer'ee-or)toward or relating to the front surface of (any point of reference); also called ventral .
distal
(dis'tul)farthest from (any point of reference).
dorsal
(dor'sul)toward or relating to the back surface of (any point of reference); also called posterior.
efferent
(ef'ur-ent)conveying away from (any point of reference).
inferior
(in-feer'ee-or)situated below.
lateral
(lat�er-al) to the side.
medial
(mee�di-ul) near the midline.
median
(mee�di-an) situated or placed in the midline of the body or in the middle path of the body, e.g. median nerve.
peripheral
(per-if'er-ul) situated away from the centre.
posterior
(pos-teer'ee-or)toward or relating to the back surface of (any point of reference); also called dorsal .
proximal
(prok�si-mul) nearest (to any point of reference).
superficial
(soo'per-fish'ul)referring to or closer to the surface.
superior
(soo-peer'-ee-or)situated above.
ventral
(ven'trul)toward or relating to the front surface of (any point of reference); also called anterior .
