The gliding joint
Gliding joints display the simplest form of movement. They permit movement from side-to-side and back-and-forth when the articular surfaces glide over one another.
Examples of gliding joints include the sterno-clavicular joint between the collar bone (clavicle) and the breast bone (sternum), and the joints between the bones of the wrist.
