The appendicular skeleton - the lower limbs
Each hip bone (or pelvic bone) is itself formed from three bones fused together. These are:
- the ilium - the bony part at the side of the hip,
- the ischium - on which we sit (pronounced iss-kium), and
- the pubis - at the front.
These all join at the socket of the hip joint, the acetabulum (pronounced asset-abulum).
