Module 10 – The reproductive system

2. The male reproductive system

The primary functions of the male organs of reproduction (the male gonads) are:

  • to secrete hormones
  • to procreate by making spermatozoa (sperm) and injecting them into the female.

Structures belonging to the male reproductive system can be found both inside and outside the main body.

The external organs of the male include the scrotum and the penis.

The internal organs of the male include the testes, epididymides, seminal ducts and vesicles, ejaculatory ducts, spermatic cords, the urethra, the prostate, and other glands.

Let's take a look at these structures in more detail.
