The brainstem

The next section of the brain is called the brainstem. The brainstem connects the cerebrum to the spinal cord, and it is made up of three parts:

  • The midbrain is located just beneath the centre of the cerebrum.
  • It conducts nerve impulses between the higher centres of the cerebrum and the lower centres of the brainstem and spinal cord.
