The Epidermis
The epidermis (sometimes referred to as the epidermal layer) is the outermost layer of the skin.
It is composed of stratified epithelial tissue. Its thickness varies from one part of the body to another.
It is very thick, hard and horny on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet but is much thinner and softer over the trunk and the inner sides of the limbs.
