The cerebellum

The final section of the brain is the cerebellum.

The cerebellum lies immediately below the cerebrum, to the rear of the brain stem. It has a central portion and two hemispheres.

The cerebellum co-ordinates the movements of the voluntary muscles so that they act smoothly. It also aids maintenance of balance and muscle tone.
